Plain White T's --a small name in the world of pop music bands. But their work is truly remarkable. I remember when i listen first song of PWT, it was "Hey there Delilah" from the album "all that we needed" released in 2005. The music in the song is so soft and the lyrics is so dedicated that i can't stop myself from listening the song again and again, it got stuck on my mind for days. Then i listen "A lonely September", after listening to that, i can't hold it more and just gone through all of their work.
It was PWT who teach me what does a song mean and how deeply we can interpret the meaning of the song's lyrics. No one can express it in words. Here are parts of few lyrics by PWT:
Hey there delilah:
"Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me"
After listening to this song, i was so curious about to know about Delilah, who is she?
after investigating on sites and listen to some podcasts, finally i came to know that she is a friend of a friend of Tom(writer of this song).Tom met her in Chicago she was a student in New York, both of them were there for a party stuff or holiday. On her first meet TOM said to her that he will write a song for her. He was in Villa Park,Illinois, due to this distance gap and busy schedule of TOM he was not able to write the song. But she constantly ask him through the e-mails, for the song whether he has written it or not? Then one day, TOM started to work on the song and finally ended up with one of their best song.
A Lonely September:
"I'm sittin' here all by myself
just tryin' to think of something to do
Tryin' to think of something, anything
just to keep me from thinking of you
But you know it's not working out
'cause you're all that's on my mind
One thought of you is all it takes
to leave the rest of the world behind
..........
I'm sittin' here tryin' to convince myself
that you're not the one for me
But the more I think, the less I believe it
and the more I want you here with me"
Irrational Anthem:
"I remember wishing I was older
always something big around the corner
but as the years go by I'm growing younger
open eye and head still filled with wonder
.........
There's nothing worse than normal
there's no fun in one day
as everyone else gets older
I refuse to change
weak or strong, right or wrong
whose side are you on?"
This song have a simple feel of getting younger and realize that childhood was any day better. But they express it so nicely, in childhood everyone wish to be grow old quickly and when it really happens we got out of our dream and then see the real world in front of our eyes, then only we realize how wrong were we in the childhood.Best part of this song is the last line, here, they have compared childhood to weak but right and young to strong but wrong.
Wonders of the younger:
"Race cars and spaceships and carnival rides
Ghosts in graveyards that come out at night
..........
Werewolves and vampires are out for the kill
If none of them catch you, the Bogeyman will
These are the wonders of the younger
And I wonder why we just leave it all behind
And I wonder how we can all go back right now
.........
Numbers and figures take up all my time
How did this much of my life pass me by?
I miss the wonders of the younger"
